Sandy Our Answer About Tendonitis Treatment Wrist

Sandy asks…

Is it wise to get pregnant with wrist tendonitis?

I have had wrist tendonitis in both my right and left wrists for 7 months now. I am getting treatment through Occupational Therapy from past 4 months. My left wrist cured fully. But my right wrist still hurts a little bit.

Will this condition worsen if I get pregnant now? I have heard that pregnancy can cause wrist pains and I would like to know if somebody went through the pregnancy process with wrist pains before hand.

My orthopedic said he would want to perform surgery if the condition doesn’t get cured within 1 month from now and it would take two months after that to recover and fully feel strength in my wrist.

In this situation, can I become pregnant or should I wait until the surgery and everything is cured?

Team Leader answers:

I know carpal tunnel is pretty common during pregnancy. Just because blood flow is mainly going to the baby. I wouldn’t risk it. I would wait until you’re fully healed before getting pregnant. Especially if you have to take pain killers or other meds. For your wrist.
