Paul asks…

Has anyone had any experience with Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy for sports injuries of the shoulder?

Has anyone had any experience with Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy for shoulder injuries?

I have a weight lifting injury that won’t get better. I have been getting active release technique on it. It is making progress, but not fast enough. I wanted to try PRP Therapy to speed things up.

Has anyone here had any experience with it? Please share your experience and include things such as cost for the therapy.

I have had personal experience with PRP Therapy and have been very pleased with the results. I had no problems with pain at the injection sites and felt the decrease in pain roughly 2 weeks post-procedure. I’m unable to give you figures regarding the treatment.
Depending on the type of injury you’ve sustained, PRPT may or may not be the best option for you. If you have tendon damage, it is best to continue with your current treatment. In that case, slow and steady would be the best approach.
Speak with a Sports Injury Specialist for an honest evaluation of the likelihood of benefit to you. Many Physicians still consider PRPT experimental. The last thing you want to do is set yourself back or undergo an unnecessary procedure.
